Four CRPF personnel sustained injuries in an accidental blast on Monday while engaged in the disposal of defective and leftover explosives in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. The incident took place near a CRPF camp as personnel carried out what was intended to be a controlled disposal operation.
Among the injured were two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) of the paramilitary force. All four personnel received immediate medical attention following the blast. The exact cause of the unintended detonation is yet to be established, though preliminary reports suggest the incident occurred during routine explosives management procedures.
The CRPF has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blast. Chhattisgarh, a mineral-rich state in central India, hosts significant CRPF deployment owing to ongoing security operations in the region. Such disposal operations are conducted periodically to manage expired and non-functional explosive materials held by security forces.
