Four detained in separate cable theft operations in Perak

IPOH — Perak police have detained four local men in connection with two separate cable theft cases in the northern state, marking another enforcement action against metal theft rings operating in the region.
The arrests were conducted during coordinated early morning operations targeting suspects linked to the incidents in Kampar and Kuala Kangsar. Preliminary investigations suggest the thefts were carried out by organized groups seeking to profit from the resale of stolen copper and aluminum cables.
Police said the detainees are currently assisting investigators in uncovering the full extent of the theft operations and identifying potential networks involved in the illegal trade of stolen electrical materials. The cases are being investigated under relevant sections of the Penal Code.
The arrests come as authorities intensify crackdowns on metal and cable thefts, which have become increasingly prevalent across Malaysia's industrial and residential areas. Police have urged members of the public to report suspicious activities involving the theft or sale of electrical cables and other metal materials to their nearest police station.
