Fire and rescue personnel attended to a residential unit in Tampines after reports of a fire originating from a clothes dryer. All four occupants of the flat were able to evacuate safely before emergency services arrived at the scene.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force responded swiftly to the incident, with firefighters working to contain and extinguish the blaze. The fire was confined to the dryer and immediate vicinity, preventing spread to other areas of the flat.
No injuries were reported among the residents or emergency responders. The cause of the fire is being investigated by authorities, though preliminary indications suggest the dryer malfunction was responsible for igniting the household appliance.
The incident adds to ongoing concerns about domestic appliance safety in residential units across the island. Fire safety officials have previously advised residents to maintain regular inspection and maintenance of household appliances, particularly those that generate heat.
