The tragedy struck in the early morning hours when a vehicle carrying members of a family from Mettugadda Thanda in Mahabubnagar district's Nawabpet mandal collided with a divider on NH-44 near Shamshabad. The family had been returning home after attending Ganesh immersion ceremonies, a significant cultural practice during the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.

The accident involved an Innova car bearing the registration number TS 07 GZ 9333. According to preliminary reports, the vehicle struck the highway divider under circumstances that are yet to be fully investigated. The impact of the collision proved fatal for all four persons travelling in the vehicle.

The incident highlights ongoing road safety concerns on major national highways in Telangana, particularly during festival seasons when traffic volumes increase significantly.
