CALAPAN CITY — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in Oriental Mindoro reported that four major river systems breached critical water levels on Tuesday morning, escalating flooding risks across the province.
The Alag River in Baco municipality, along with the Bucayao, Panggalaan, and a fourth unnamed waterway, triggered official alerts when they surpassed dangerous thresholds as of 7 a.m., according to the PDRRMO announcement. The critical designations indicate that water levels have approached or exceeded safety parameters established for flood management in the region.
The simultaneous alerts across multiple river systems suggest widespread rainfall has affected Oriental Mindoro's watershed areas. Provincial officials have not yet disclosed whether evacuation orders have been issued or if communities in low-lying areas have been advised to relocate to higher ground.
The PDRRMO is expected to provide updated water level readings and additional details regarding response measures being implemented across the affected municipalities. Residents in areas adjacent to the four river systems have been advised to remain vigilant and monitor official announcements for further instructions.
