The Jammu and Kashmir administration witnessed a cabinet expansion on Thursday as the Lieutenant-Governor sworn in four new ministers to Omar Abdullah's council of ministers. Ali Muhammad Sagar, Shameema Firdous, Mir Saifullah, and Altaf Kaloo took the oath of office and secrecy in a ceremony held at the Lieutenant-Governor's residence.
The induction of the four new faces represents a significant restructuring of the regional government's cabinet composition. The expansion follows recent political developments in the union territory and reflects the Chief Minister's approach to broadening his administration's ministerial strength.
Simultaneously, Satish Sharma, an independent candidate representing the Jammu province, was dropped from the cabinet. His removal marks a notable change in the government's political configuration, particularly among independent ministers in the Jammu region.
The cabinet changes come as Omar Abdullah's administration consolidates its position following recent electoral developments in Jammu and Kashmir. The reshuffle is expected to enable the government to address departmental and administrative priorities across the union territory's two regions.
