Police headquarters announced the disciplinary action on Monday, suspending the Officer-in-Charge of Homagama police station and the Officer-in-Charge of its Crimes Division. A Vice Officer-in-Charge attached to the station's Narcotics Division, who participated in the raid during which the suspect died, was also suspended, along with a police constable.

The suspensions come as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the death of the 29-year-old suspect in custody. Police spokesman ASP F.U. Wootler confirmed the action taken by the police hierarchy in response to the incident.
