IBA, Zambales — Wildlife authorities have successfully released four rehabilitated animals into designated zones within Aurora Memorial National Park, marking another milestone in regional conservation initiatives. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources office in Central Luzon announced the release on Tuesday, underscoring the agency's commitment to restoring endangered species to their natural habitats.
The released animals comprised a Philippine serpent eagle, two Philippine cobras, and a reticulated python. Each species represents important components of the region's biodiversity, with the serpent eagle being a nationally protected raptor and the cobras representing a venomous species critical to ecosystem balance.
The animals underwent comprehensive rehabilitation programs before their release, ensuring they possessed the necessary survival skills and health status required for successful reintegration into the protected area. Aurora Memorial National Park provides a secure environment for the released species, with designated sites carefully selected based on habitat suitability and ecological requirements.
The release operation reflects broader efforts across Central Luzon to strengthen wildlife conservation and expand protected populations of threatened species. The DENR continues to monitor rehabilitation and release programs throughout the region as part of national biodiversity preservation initiatives.
