The capital city's Air Pollution Index (API) peaked at 261 by 3pm, placing it in the unhealthy category and raising concerns about public health impacts. Three neighbouring districts—Serian, Sri Aman and Samarahan—also registered unhealthy API readings during the same period, indicating a broader air quality issue affecting the region. Air quality in these categories typically prompts authorities to advise vulnerable groups including children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions to limit outdoor activities.
