Four suspects arrested following assault on police officers in Matale
Police have arrested four individuals suspected of assaulting three officers during an investigation into an unauthorised gathering in Matale's Yatawatta area. The incident occurred late yesterday evening when officers responded to complaints about the event.

The arrests were made following an altercation that took place on Divilla Road in Yatawatta when police attended the scene to investigate reports of a party being held in the locality. Three police officers were reportedly assaulted during the operation.
According to police sources, the four suspects were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Officers conducting the investigation stated that the individuals obstructed police personnel from carrying out their duties.
