CATBALOGAN — A government-sponsored community kitchen aimed at combating involuntary hunger will commence operations in Catbalogan City, Samar, during the first week of October, the Department of Social Welfare and Development announced.
The facility, branded as "Walang Gutom Kitchen," forms part of the DSWD's expanded efforts to address food insecurity across the Eastern Visayas region. According to Grace Subong, the DSWD's regional director for Eastern Visayas, the kitchen will deliver free meals to vulnerable populations struggling with hunger.
The Catbalogan location represents the agency's commitment to reaching residents in provincial areas beyond the national capital. Officials indicated the kitchen will operate as a sustainable nutrition initiative, though specific operational details regarding daily meal distribution and capacity remain under finalization.
