MABALACAT CITY — Infrastructure damage along a key Pampanga dike has worsened with the collapse of another section of the San Fernando-Sto. Tomas-Minalin Tail Dike in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The failure occurred at Barangay San Nicolas in Minalin, with local officials attributing the structural breach to the force of river currents. The collapse has rendered the dike road impassable for tricycles and four-wheel vehicles, disrupting transportation along the vital corridor.
Minalin Mayor Philip Siojo Naguit disclosed the incident through a social media announcement, alerting residents and motorists to the closure. The repeated failures at the tail dike have raised concerns about the aging infrastructure's ability to withstand natural water pressures in the region.
