Fresh produce e-commerce platform Handpickd is charting an ambitious expansion strategy, targeting three major metropolitan centres to drive substantial growth in the coming period. The company plans to enter Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune as part of its next phase of scaling operations, leveraging its zero-inventory model that has gained traction in existing markets.
The expansion aligns with Handpickd's broader strategy to capture market share in India's growing online fresh produce segment. By replicating its operational model across new geographies, the platform aims to achieve three to five-fold growth on a year-on-year basis, indicating confidence in both its business model and market demand.
The zero-inventory approach, which sources produce directly from farmers and delivers to consumers without maintaining large storage facilities, allows the platform to offer fresher products while reducing operational costs. This model has emerged as a competitive advantage in the crowded online grocery space, where freshness and pricing remain key differentiators.
The metro-focused expansion strategy reflects broader trends in Indian e-commerce, where tier-one cities offer higher consumption volumes and better logistics infrastructure. Success in these three additional cities could position Handpickd for further geographic rollout and strengthen its position against larger competitors in the organized fresh produce segment.
