FSSAI slaps notice on Radisson Blu Delhi for hygiene violations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on Friday directed AB Hotels Ltd to remedy significant deficiencies identified at its New Delhi property. The regulatory action follows an inspection that revealed widespread maintenance and sanitation failures across the hotel's food preparation and storage facilities.

Inspectors documented poor upkeep of premises and equipment, including rusted machinery, leaking freezers, and substandard refrigeration systems. Temperature monitoring, ventilation, flooring and lighting were all found to be inadequate. The FSSAI also noted insufficient cleaning and sanitisation protocols, the presence of stagnant water, and drainage complications.

The food business operator has been instructed to implement immediate corrective measures and submit a comprehensive action report with documentary and photographic evidence of compliance. The regulator flagged additional concerns related to food waste management and pest control deficiencies.

The FSSAI warned that non-compliance with the directive may result in escalated enforcement action, including suspension or cancellation of the establishment's food safety licence. The notice underscores ongoing regulatory scrutiny of high-end hospitality establishments to ensure adherence to national food safety standards.
