FT008 detour near Gua Musang reopens to light vehicles after sinkhole

GUA MUSANG, Oct 25 — Authorities have reopened a temporary detour on the Federal Route 008 (FT008) near Gua Musang following remedial work on a section of the critical north-south corridor linking Gua Musang and Kota Bharu.

The bypass on Section 205.556 is currently operational for light vehicles, allowing traffic to resume along the alternative route after the discovery and assessment of ground subsidence in the main carriageway. The sinkhole prompted initial closure of the affected segment and implementation of the detour to maintain connectivity in the region.

Authorities have not yet announced when the main route will be fully restored or provided details on the cause of the subsidence. Motorists using the affected area are advised to exercise caution and adhere to all signage and traffic management measures in place.

The FT008 is a crucial transport artery serving the east coast states and carries significant volume of commercial and passenger traffic. Officials have urged road users to allow additional travel time while temporary arrangements remain in effect on this section of the expressway.
