Petrol prices in Malaysia have softened this week, with RON97 fuel declining by 30 sen per litre, while unsubsidised RON95 petrol similarly fell by 30 sen. Diesel prices also retreated, dropping 10 sen per litre in the latest adjustment cycle.
The price reductions reflect movements in global crude oil benchmarks and currency fluctuations affecting Malaysia's fuel import costs. These adjusted rates apply to all service stations nationwide and will remain fixed through October 28, after which prices are subject to further review.
The pricing mechanism, which updates weekly, is designed to shield Malaysian consumers from excessive volatility in international energy markets while allowing gradual adjustments that reflect underlying cost pressures. Motorists and transport operators are expected to benefit from the temporary relief in pump prices, though long-term fuel cost trajectories remain dependent on global oil market developments.
