Fuel prices rise across the board as new week begins

Petrol and diesel prices moved upward in the latest weekly adjustment, reflecting broader market movements in the region. RON97 petrol saw a 5-sen increase, while unsubsidised RON95 petrol and diesel fuel each rose by the same margin.

The price adjustments were announced for implementation at the start of the week. Motorists and businesses relying on diesel will need to factor in the increased operational costs as the adjustment takes effect.

The new pricing regime will remain in place until September 2, when the next scheduled review is expected. Malaysia's fuel prices are adjusted on a weekly basis, with changes typically announced on Friday evenings for implementation the following Monday.

Government-subsidised RON95 petrol maintains its controlled pricing mechanism, insulating consumers from full market fluctuations on this grade. The movement in unsubsidised RON95 aligns more closely with international crude oil trends and regional market conditions.
