Fujifilm India pursues semiconductor supply contracts amid major plant investment

Fujifilm India is in advanced discussions with Indian semiconductor manufacturers and local industry partners to secure long-term supply contracts for specialty chemicals and materials. The negotiations are part of the Japanese conglomerate's broader expansion strategy in the domestic semiconductor ecosystem.

The company is constructing a dedicated semiconductor materials plant in Dholera, Gujarat, with a total capital outlay of around ₹800 crore. The facility is expected to cater to the growing demand for high-purity chemicals and advanced materials required by India's burgeoning chip manufacturing sector.

India has emerged as a key destination for semiconductor manufacturing, supported by government incentives under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the National Semiconductor Mission. Several global and domestic chipmakers have announced plans to establish or expand fabrication plants across the country.

Fujifilm's investment in Dholera positions it to serve as a critical materials supplier to these manufacturers. The company's engagement with local partners aims to streamline supply chains and ensure reliable availability of essential semiconductor production inputs.

The development underscores growing interest among multinational materials suppliers in India's semiconductor sector, as the government seeks to build a self-sufficient chip manufacturing ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports for critical production materials.
