Fully Formed Tooth Found Above Teen's Eye in Rare Medical Case

A teenager in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, has undergone surgery to remove an unusual growth—a fully formed tooth that had developed above his eye. The rare case came to light after the boy experienced swelling on his upper eyelid for approximately one month, prompting him to seek medical attention.

Doctors conducted comprehensive diagnostic tests, including a CT scan, which confirmed the startling presence of a complete, fully developed tooth in the orbital area above the eye. Medical professionals expressed surprise at the uncommon nature of the condition, which is typically seen only in exceptional cases.

Following the diagnosis, surgeons performed a procedure to extract the tooth from the affected area. The operation was successful, and the adolescent has since recovered from the condition. Such cases of teeth forming in locations outside the oral cavity remain extraordinarily rare in medical literature and continue to perplex medical professionals when they occur.
