G7 foreign ministers to tackle pro-Russian cyber attacks

Foreign ministers from the Group of Seven will convene in Paris on Monday and Tuesday to deliberate on recent cyber attacks believed to originate from pro-Russian groups, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on Sunday.

The agenda reflects escalating tensions over cyber warfare tactics employed by Moscow-aligned actors, which have targeted critical infrastructure and government systems across Western nations. The timing of the discussion signals the G7's commitment to addressing digital security threats as a unified bloc.

Tajani's announcement comes as governments worldwide intensify scrutiny of cyber operations linked to Russian state actors and affiliated hacking collectives. The Paris meeting will provide an opportunity for the major industrialised democracies to coordinate responses and strengthen defences against future attacks.

The G7 comprises Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Cybersecurity has increasingly featured on the group's agenda as digital threats have grown more sophisticated and consequential to national security interests across member nations.
