Senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra conducted an impromptu assessment of 64 AICC secretaries at the party's headquarters on 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Tuesday, according to party sources.
The exercise involved quizzing the secretaries on five to six questions covering operational matters, including identifying a significant organizational failing, naming the top five Congress functionaries in their respective states, and listing three senior AICC secretaries, sources said.
According to internal party feedback, approximately half of the evaluated secretaries failed to provide satisfactory responses to the inquiries. The assessment underscores ongoing concerns within Congress leadership about institutional knowledge and ground-level organizational capacity.
The move reflects the Gandhi siblings' continued efforts to revitalize the party's administrative structure and strengthen its organizational mechanisms ahead of upcoming electoral contests. Congress has faced persistent organizational challenges and electoral setbacks in recent years, prompting senior leadership to focus on administrative accountability and performance metrics.
