A gastroenteritis outbreak has affected 51 pupils and two employees at two Ministry of Education kindergartens, prompting swift action from health and food safety authorities. The affected facilities have been linked to food services provided by Deli Hub Catering, whose operations have been temporarily suspended pending investigation.
The Ministry of Education is coordinating closely with the Centre for Disease Control, Singapore Food Agency, and the affected kindergartens to determine the source of the outbreak and prevent further cases. Investigations are underway to establish whether the illness stems from contaminated food or other environmental factors at the catering provider.
Gastroenteritis outbreaks in childcare settings are not uncommon and can spread rapidly among young children due to close contact and hygiene challenges. Authorities have advised parents and caregivers to monitor children for symptoms and seek medical attention if necessary.
The suspension of Deli Hub Catering's operations will remain in effect until authorities are satisfied that food safety standards have been met and the source of contamination identified. School meal arrangements for the affected kindergartens are being coordinated to minimise disruption to operations and student welfare.
