Gaza death toll exceeds 1,300 as violence persists despite ceasefire

The Gaza Ministry of Health reported on Monday that violence in the Palestinian territory continues unabated despite ceasefire agreements, with casualty figures rising substantially in recent months.
According to health ministry data, over 900 deaths have occurred in 2024, added to the more than 400 killed in the final months of 2023 following the October 10 escalation. The cumulative toll now exceeds 1,300 fatalities, with children accounting for nearly a quarter of the casualties.
The ongoing casualty figures underscore the humanitarian toll of the conflict in the densely populated coastal enclave. Health infrastructure in Gaza has been severely strained by the violence, with numerous medical facilities reported damaged or rendered inoperable.
The ceasefire agreements, which have been announced at various intervals, have failed to halt the violence, according to health ministry statements. International humanitarian organizations have warned of deepening crisis conditions affecting the territory's 2.3 million residents.
