GDP data, oil prices set to steer Indian markets in coming week
Domestic economic data releases and global crude oil movements are expected to dictate trading sentiment on Indian bourses over the coming week. Key triggers include India's first-quarter GDP figures and the US employment report.

Trading activity on Indian stock exchanges in the week ahead will be shaped primarily by the release of domestic gross domestic product data, international crude oil price movements, and the US non-farm payrolls report, market analysts said.
India's Q1 FY27 GDP figures are scheduled for release on August 31, with investors also closely watching the country's August manufacturing and services Purchasing Managers' Index readings, GST collections, foreign exchange reserves, and rupee movements. "The coming week is expected to remain highly eventful, with domestic GDP data and global economic releases likely to determine market direction," said Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice President for Research at Religare Broking Ltd.
Globally, the US August non-farm payrolls report due on September 4 will serve as the most significant trigger for market sentiment. The employment data carries particular weight as it could substantially influence investor expectations regarding the Federal Reserve's monetary policy stance in September.
Beyond macroeconomic indicators, automobile sales figures and the trading activity of foreign institutional investors are also expected to guide market movements in the coming days, analysts added. These multiple data points will combine to create a volatile week for equity investors tracking the Indian market.
