GEORGE TOWN — Penang authorities have announced comprehensive road closures across George Town to facilitate preparations for the National Day parade, effective from Thursday, August 29 through Saturday, August 31.
The closures will affect several key arterial roads in the city centre as organisers conduct final rehearsals and stage the main parade event. Residents and commuters are strongly encouraged to avoid the affected areas during this period and to utilise alternative routes for their journeys.
The Penang state government had previously detailed the specific roads subject to closure, providing advance notice to allow motorists adequate time to adjust their travel plans. Traffic management personnel will be stationed at key junctions to guide vehicles and maintain smooth traffic flow on neighbouring roads.
Authorities have recommended that those with essential business in the city centre complete their activities before the closure period begins. Public transport services are expected to operate with modified routes during the parade preparations and celebration.
