Ghaghara River Floods Five Villages in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda District

The Ghaghara River is flowing 50 centimetres above the danger mark in Gonda district, triggering a humanitarian crisis across five villages in Tarbganj tehsil. The affected settlements—including Aili, Garhi, and Bahadurpur—are home to approximately 9,000 people who now face severe hardship due to the rising waters.

Floodwaters have submerged residential areas, forcing families to evacuate their homes and causing significant damage to property. Agricultural fields across the region have been completely inundated, with standing crops destroyed by the deluge. The inundation has devastated the livelihoods of farming communities dependent on the current harvest season.

Rural residents have been reduced to using boats for daily activities as normal movement across the villages has become impossible. Relief and rescue operations remain underway, though the swollen river continues to pose a significant threat to the affected population. Local authorities are monitoring water levels closely as forecasts suggest continued precipitation in the region.
