The International Gong Festival opened in Gia Lai province with participation from 39 delegations representing artisans and cultural representatives from across Vietnam's central and southern regions. The event brought together craftspeople from Gia Lai, Quang Tri, Hue City, Da Nang and other provinces to celebrate one of Southeast Asia's most distinctive musical traditions.

Thousands of residents and tourists, both domestic and international, attended the festival to witness demonstrations of gong-making techniques and listen to traditional performances. The gathering highlighted the importance of gong-making as a living craft and cultural practice among ethnic communities in the region.

The festival serves as a platform for artisans to exchange knowledge and preserve gong-making methods passed down through generations. By bringing together practitioners from multiple provinces, organizers aim to strengthen awareness of the instrument's cultural significance and ensure its survival amid rapid social changes.

The event aligns with broader efforts to safeguard Vietnam's intangible cultural heritage and promote traditional arts on the international stage. Such festivals provide opportunities for younger generations to learn about ancestral crafts while attracting interest from the global tourism market.
