Giant 1,100-kg Laddu Offered as Unique Prasad for Ganpati Visarjan

A colossal laddu weighing 1,101 kilograms was specially prepared and offered as prasad during Ganpati Visarjan festivities, marking an unusual departure from traditional offerings made to the elephant-headed deity.

The preparation of the mammoth sweet involved significant quantities of premium ingredients. According to details of the preparation, approximately 320 kilograms of gram flour, 260 kilograms of sugar, 320 kilograms of clarified butter, and 61 kilograms of dried nuts were used in creating the confection. The mixture was further enriched with pistachios, almonds, cashews, raisins, and saffron, with rose water incorporated to enhance the flavour profile.

To enhance its visual appeal, artisans finished the massive laddu with a coating of edible silver foil, transforming it into a gleaming centrepiece befitting the ceremonial occasion. The endeavour reflects the elaborate and creative ways in which devotees across India honor their religious traditions during major festivals.

The preparation and offering of such grand-scale prasad demonstrates the scale of devotional practices during Ganpati Visarjan, one of India's most significant Hindu celebrations marking the farewell of Lord Ganesha after a period of worship and celebration.
