SEREMBAN — The Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) concluded a lengthy operation on Tuesday with the capture of the 5.5-metre crocodile that had remained at large since May, when it attacked a retired policeman during an incident in the state.
The operation involved a coordinated effort between Perhilitan officers and wildlife specialists who deployed both conventional and modern techniques to locate and safely apprehend the dangerous reptile. The capture was conducted in a controlled manner to ensure public safety and minimise harm to the animal.
The retired police officer who was attacked in May sustained injuries during the incident, prompting authorities to launch extensive search and containment efforts across affected waterways. The successful capture marks the conclusion of an operation that had stretched over several months as teams worked to track the animal's movements.
Following its capture, the crocodile has been secured and will be transferred to a wildlife facility for assessment and long-term management. Perhilitan has advised residents in crocodile-prone areas to remain vigilant and avoid approaching waterways without necessary precautions.
