Giant steel arch rotated into place for Saigon River pedestrian bridge

The steel arch, designed to resemble a nipa palm leaf, was carefully maneuvered by tugboats across the Saigon River to complete a major structural component of the new bridge. The positioning of the arch represents a significant step forward in the project, which aims to create a direct pedestrian link between Bach Dang Wharf and the Thu Thiem urban development area.

The bridge project has been designed to enhance connectivity between these two important zones in Ho Chi Minh City. The distinctive architectural design of the arch, inspired by traditional Vietnamese imagery, is expected to become a notable landmark upon completion.

With the centerpiece span now in position, construction teams can proceed with the next phases of the project. The pedestrian bridge is expected to improve accessibility and support the ongoing urban development in the Thu Thiem district while providing scenic access across one of the city's most significant waterways.
