Radha, a Gir cow raised in Talod village of Ujjain district, has set a new state record by producing 19.760 litres of milk per day, establishing herself as the highest-yielding dairy animal in Madhya Pradesh.
The exceptional productivity of the indigenous Gir breed animal represents a significant milestone in the state's dairy farming sector. Gir cattle, native to Gujarat but now reared across India, are prized for their hardiness and milk quality, though daily yields of this magnitude remain noteworthy.
Cattle owner Gaurav Raghuvanshi will be felicitated for the achievement by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at a state-level event scheduled for November 9 in Bhopal. The recognition underscores the state government's focus on promoting improved dairy farming practices and animal husbandry across the region.
The record reflects growing interest among farmers in breeding high-yielding livestock varieties while maintaining traditional cattle rearing methods. Such milestones often encourage neighbouring farmers to adopt improved breeding and management practices that enhance overall productivity in the dairy sector.
