Girl killed as heavy rains trigger disasters in Uttar Pradesh

An 11-year-old girl died on Wednesday after a large tree collapsed onto a residential building in Sikandpur village in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, as heavy rainfall continued to batter the region. Three members of the same family were trapped under the debris, officials said. Six people sustained injuries in weather-related incidents across the district during the same 24-hour period.

The tree that fell in Sikandpur caused the most serious casualty, with the girl's death confirmed after rescue operations. Two other family members were also recovered from beneath the collapsed tree, though their condition was not immediately detailed.

The relentless downpour has spawned additional calamities throughout Hardoi. In a separate incident, a mudbrick wall gave way, killing four buffalo that were sheltering nearby. Weather officials expect rainfall to persist in the coming days, prompting local authorities to remain on alert for further weather-related emergencies.
