GMC Jagtial medical students launch indefinite protest over infrastructure delays

Medical students at Government Medical College (GMC) Jagtial have intensified their agitation over chronic infrastructure shortcomings that have hampered their academic progression for nearly four years. The students launched an indefinite protest to press authorities to address the absence of a functional campus, inadequate transportation facilities, and substandard hostel arrangements.

According to student representatives, the lack of reliable transport services has directly impacted their ability to participate in mandatory Rural and Urban Health Training Centre postings—a critical component of their medical curriculum. Community medical camps and field-based clinical training, essential for comprehensive medical education, have also suffered due to these logistical constraints.

The prolonged delay in establishing basic institutional infrastructure has created cascading difficulties for the student cohort. Without dedicated campus facilities and proper residential accommodations, students have faced significant barriers to engaging in practical, community-based learning activities required under medical education regulations.

The indefinite protest underscores growing frustration among the student body regarding institutional neglect and administrative inaction. College authorities have not yet issued a public response to the specific demands raised by protesting students.

GMC Jagtial, established to enhance medical education access in Telangana's Karimnagar district, continues to grapple with infrastructure development challenges that have put its educational mission at risk.
