The Colombo High Court adjourned the case when it came before Judge Buddhika on Tuesday. The proceedings are scheduled to resume on 29 October for further hearing and consideration of the charges.
Venerable Gnanasara Thera, who heads the Bodu Bala Sena, faces allegations related to an incident said to have involved insulting remarks toward Islam. The case has been progressing through the courts, with Tuesday's session resulting in the adjournment to allow for additional time in the legal process.
The postponement follows standard court procedures for cases of this nature. The next hearing date provides both the defence and prosecution with additional time to prepare their respective positions ahead of the October resumption of proceedings.
