Goa has welcomed 7.69 million tourists during the first nine months of the year, marking marginal growth compared to the same period last year, government data shows. The figure represents a modest increase from the 7.63 million visitors recorded between January and September of the previous year.

Domestic travellers continue to form the backbone of Goa's tourism sector, with Indian visitors accounting for approximately 7.42 million arrivals—a gain of 1.72 percent year-on-year. This consistent growth among domestic tourists underscores the state's appeal as a premier holiday destination for Indian travellers seeking beach leisure and cultural experiences.

State authorities are pursuing an expanded tourism calendar to reduce dependence on the traditional winter season when visitor numbers typically peak. The initiative aims to distribute tourist inflows more evenly throughout the year, potentially alleviating infrastructure pressures during peak months while generating sustained economic activity for local businesses and communities.

The tourism sector remains vital to Goa's economy, contributing substantially to employment and revenue generation. Officials indicate that year-round promotion strategies, including targeted marketing campaigns and enhanced facilities, are central to their strategy for bolstering visitor numbers beyond seasonal fluctuations.
