The 2027 Godavari Pushkaram is expected to generate approximately 2,800 metric tonnes of solid waste each day, according to the East Godavari District Collector, highlighting the scale of sanitation management required for the 12-yearly religious congregation.

To address these challenges, district authorities are planning comprehensive infrastructure deployment. The administration will establish at least 20,000 toilets across the pilgrimage areas to serve the anticipated influx of devotees. Additionally, 8,000 sanitation staff members will be stationed to maintain safe and hygienic conditions throughout the event.

The Godavari Pushkaram, observed every 12 years when Jupiter enters Sagittarius, draws millions of pilgrims to the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh. The 2027 edition is expected to attract substantial crowds seeking ritual bathing at designated ghats, making waste management and sanitation critical components of the administrative planning.

The district collector's office indicated that the multi-faceted approach combining infrastructure development and adequate staffing deployment reflects lessons learned from previous Pushkaram events. Officials are emphasizing proactive planning to ensure public health standards remain intact during the festival period.
