Godrej Consumer Products has announced fresh price increases on several of its marquee brands including Good Knight, HIT and Cinthol, effective from September-October. The move reflects mounting pressure on margins from elevated input costs that have persisted through the year.

According to the company, the cumulative price hikes on select products have reached as much as 15.8% in the current financial year. The increases span across its insecticide, personal care and hygiene segments, indicating broad-based cost inflation across raw materials and manufacturing.

The price adjustments come as consumer goods manufacturers across India grapple with inflationary pressures on commodities, packaging materials and energy costs. Godrej Consumer's decision to pass through these costs to consumers underscores the challenging operating environment facing the sector.

The company manufactures a diverse portfolio of household essentials and personal care products that serve mass-market consumers. Industry analysts expect similar pricing actions from other consumer goods companies as input cost pressures continue to weigh on profitability across the sector.
