KOTA BHARU — The General Operations Force (GOF) has seized 15,000 robusta coffee seedlings and a lorry at a roadblock in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, in an operation that resulted in contraband valued at approximately RM1 million.
The interception took place during a routine inspection at the checkpoint, where authorities discovered the seedlings being transported without proper documentation. The vehicle used in the operation was also detained as part of the seizure.
Robusta coffee seedlings are sought for cultivation in various parts of Malaysia and the region, making illegal trade in the plants a persistent enforcement concern for authorities. The GOF's operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat smuggling activities along major transport routes in the northeastern state.
