Gold financiers surge as bullion hits two-month peak

Gold financing companies extended gains on the back of a sharp rally in bullion prices that reached a two-month high. Muthoot Finance, the sector's largest player, surged 4.7 per cent intraday to ₹2,997.80, while peer Manappuram Finance climbed 3.2 per cent to ₹351 per share.

Among other players, IIFL Finance advanced 3 per cent to ₹649 apiece, with CSB Bank emerging as the top gainer, jumping 5 per cent as gold prices strengthened. The upward movement in the bullion market typically benefits gold loan companies, which derive a significant portion of their revenues from lending against gold collateral.

Gold price movements have a direct bearing on the profitability and lending capacities of these institutions. A stronger bullion market often translates to increased lending activity and improved margins for gold financiers, making the sector attractive to investors during periods of rising precious metal valuations.

The rally reflects broader market optimism around gold prices, which have been buoyed by global economic uncertainties and central bank demand. Analysts point out that investors continue to view gold loan companies as leveraged bets on bullion price appreciation.
