Gold, silver prices fall sharply in Delhi bullion market this week

Precious metal prices in Delhi's sarraafa bazaar experienced a marked downturn during the trading week, reflecting broader volatility in global commodity markets.

Silver bore the brunt of the selling pressure, plummeting by more than ₹13,500 from levels above ₹13,000 per kilogram seen at the week's opening. The white metal's sharp decline has prompted retail and institutional buyers to reassess their purchasing strategies in the capital's bullion trading centres.

Gold prices also contracted substantially during the period, though market participants attributed the weakness to profit-taking after recent strength and a strengthening domestic currency. Traders noted that the correction has made the precious metal relatively more affordable for jewellery manufacturers and retail customers.

The price movements come as global commodity markets remain sensitive to macroeconomic factors, including interest rate expectations and currency fluctuations. Analysts suggest that investors should monitor weekly trends closely before making fresh accumulation or liquidation decisions in both metals.
