The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has informed the state High Court that Google's data centre project has been cleared for approvals after completing due diligence on the detailed project report (DPR). The clearance marks a significant step forward for the technology giant's infrastructure expansion in the state.
The Executive Officer of the temple located on the proposed project site has submitted to the court that the 160 acres in question constitute inalienable property of the deity, contesting claims related to land usage for the data centre. The temple's position underscores ongoing concerns about the land's rightful ownership and designated use.
A petition filed by environmentalist Bolisetti Satyanarayana challenging the project is scheduled for hearing on October 5. The hearing is expected to address environmental and land-use concerns raised by the petitioner against the proposed development.
The project's progression through regulatory approvals reflects efforts to attract major technology investments to Andhra Pradesh, though it continues to face legal challenges from multiple stakeholders with competing claims and concerns regarding the site's utilization and environmental impact.
