Google has begun rolling out an upgraded autofill capability in Chrome that leverages artificial intelligence to streamline online form completion. The new feature taps into user Gmail data to populate web forms more efficiently.

Google is introducing an AI-assisted autofill function in its Chrome browser designed to simplify the process of completing online forms. The enhanced feature integrates Gemini, Google's large language model, with what the company calls Personal Intelligence capabilities to intelligently extract and populate user information across web platforms.
The system draws from a user's Gmail account to identify relevant personal information—such as addresses, contact details, and other biographical data—that can be automatically inserted into form fields. This represents a significant step beyond traditional autofill mechanisms, which typically store and repeat previously entered information.
The rollout is being deployed incrementally across Chrome users, with availability expanding gradually. Google has positioned the feature as part of its broader integration of AI-driven productivity tools within its ecosystem, aimed at reducing friction in everyday digital tasks.
Users in India and across the region will see this capability become available on their devices as the deployment progresses. The feature remains optional, allowing users to continue relying on manual form completion or traditional autofill methods if preferred. Google has emphasised that the tool operates within its existing privacy and data handling frameworks, though users can manage their data sharing preferences through Chrome settings.
