Government approves 12 ECMS projects, opens ISM 2.0 application portal

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has approved 12 new projects under the ECMS category, marking a significant step in India's push to strengthen its electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The approved initiatives are projected to generate production worth ₹39,045 crore while creating 7,127 direct employment opportunities across the sector.

The government has simultaneously launched a dedicated application portal for the Incentive Scheme for Manufacturing 2.0 (ISM 2.0), which will serve as the primary channel for enterprises seeking to benefit from the scheme. The portal has been designed with stringent quality controls to ensure efficient processing of applications.

According to officials, the ISM 2.0 portal will only accept complete applications meeting all specified requirements, eliminating delays associated with incomplete submissions. This approach is intended to expedite the review and approval process while maintaining transparency and accountability in the allocation of incentives.

The ECMS projects span various sub-sectors within electronics manufacturing, reflecting the government's commitment to diversifying production capabilities and reducing dependence on imports. The combined investment and job creation targets underscore the government's confidence in the sector's growth potential and its role in achieving broader Make in India objectives.
