India's commerce ministry has established a dedicated sub-committee to accelerate implementation and improve uptake of the RELIEF scheme, a key component of the government's broader export promotion strategy.
The Resilience and Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation (RELIEF) initiative operates under the Rs 25,060-crore Export Promotion Mission and is designed to shield Indian exporters from volatile freight charges, rising insurance premiums, and shipping disruptions affecting trade routes through the Gulf and West Asian corridors.
According to a trade notice issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the newly constituted committee comprises three DGFT officials alongside representatives from the departments of commerce and financial services, as well as the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC). The panel will oversee the scheme's three operational components and monitor progress in fund utilization.
The formation of this oversight committee signals the government's commitment to maximizing the scheme's reach among eligible exporters and ensuring effective deployment of allocated resources to support India's export sector amid ongoing global supply chain challenges.
