Government lawyer appointed for bounty suspect in Uttar Pradesh murder case

Mohammad Arman, also known as Arman Bihari, has been provided with government-appointed legal representation following his request for free counsel before a Prayagraj district court. Chief Defence Counsel Vikas Gupta has been assigned to represent the accused, who lacks the means to hire a private attorney.

Arman faces serious charges in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal, a businessman, along with two government security officers. The case has drawn significant attention in Uttar Pradesh, with a substantial bounty having been announced for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

The appointment of state counsel marks a procedural development in the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings. Court-appointed advocates are typically assigned to accused individuals who cannot afford private legal representation, ensuring compliance with constitutional provisions guaranteeing the right to defence.

The case continues to be handled by the Prayagraj judiciary, with further proceedings expected as the investigation advances.
