Government, MILF deploy peacekeepers to ease BARMM tensions

COTABATO CITY — Joint peacekeeping teams from the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have been deployed across the special geographic area of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (SGA-BARMM) in response to rising tensions, the government Peace Implementing Panel announced Sunday.
The Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities and the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group have been mobilized to monitor the situation and prevent potential armed clashes. The move represents a coordinated response between the two parties to maintain stability in the conflict-affected region.
The deployment comes as efforts to consolidate the peace process in Mindanao continue. Both the government and MILF have committed to utilizing existing ceasefire mechanisms and coordination structures to address grievances and prevent disputes from escalating into violence.
