During recent discussions, Meta representatives detailed their algorithmic systems and content moderation processes to ministry officials. Sources indicated the dialogue remains ongoing, with both parties recognizing that effective enforcement requires "judgment calls and technical tweaks" to existing frameworks.

Government officials stressed that regulatory pressure aims to ensure compliance with Indian legal standards and reduce social media harms, rather than impose censorship or restrict legitimate coverage. "The message has gone home," ministry sources said, signaling Meta's receptiveness to enhanced child safety protocols.

Separately, authorities are examining concerns regarding WhatsApp username functionality, noting the issue extends beyond Meta's messaging platform to encompass other applications in the sector.
