Government Releases Monthly Allowances for MILF Peace Officers

COTABATO CITY — The national government commenced releasing monthly allowances Wednesday to Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) members assigned to Joint Peace and Security Teams (JPSTs), a security mechanism established under the Bangsamoro peace accord.

The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) confirmed that approximately 362 MILF personnel are currently deployed across JPST units, which operate as a joint peacekeeping force supporting the implementation of the peace agreement.

The regular release of allowances underscores the government's commitment to maintaining the security arrangements outlined in the Bangsamoro agreement. JPST members are tasked with monitoring compliance and preventing violations of the ceasefire framework between government forces and the MILF.

The payment schedule demonstrates continued coordination between the national government and the MILF in implementing key provisions of the peace deal, which has substantially reduced conflict in the Mindanao region since its ratification.
