Government will act on issues regardless of institution or religion, says Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government remains committed to addressing institutional problems impartially, rejecting any attempt to frame investigations or corrective measures as targeting specific communities or religions.

Anwar's comments come as scrutiny intensifies on several state-linked entities, including Felda and Tabung Haji (TH). The Prime Minister stressed that governance issues would be handled on their merits, with action taken whenever irregularities are identified.

"The government will act when problems are discovered, regardless of whether the institution involved is a Malay, Islamic, or government agency," Anwar stated, cautioning against the politicization of such matters along communal or religious lines.

His remarks reflect the government's position that accountability and transparency should supersede considerations of institutional heritage or religious affiliation. The statement underscores the administration's broader push toward institutional reform and good governance across the public sector.

The clarification comes amid ongoing public discourse surrounding the management and operations of several government-linked companies and statutory bodies, with officials maintaining that remedial actions are driven solely by governance imperatives.
