GovTech cuts 38 staff in second round of layoffs

The Government Technology Agency (GovTech) has proceeded with a second tranche of staff retrenchments, affecting 38 employees across the organisation. The layoffs represent the latest phase in GovTech's ongoing workforce restructuring efforts as the agency seeks to optimise its operational efficiency.

GovTech, which operates under the purview of the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group, has been undergoing a comprehensive review of its staffing levels and organisational structure. The agency's management indicated that the retrenchment decisions were made following a careful assessment of business requirements and operational needs.

Employees affected by the retrenchment have been provided with support measures, including retrenchment benefits and assistance with career transition. GovTech stated that it remains committed to supporting affected staff members during this period.

The agency continues to play a central role in Singapore's digital transformation agenda, managing key government digital infrastructure and services. Despite the restructuring, GovTech said it remains focused on delivering digital solutions that enhance citizen and business engagement with government services.
